Glukhivskie 46 — this is a hemp variety widely used for obtaining fiber and seeds. Hemp fiber contained in dry stems at 18–23% is characterized by high strength and resistance to rot even during prolonged submersion in water. Long fiber is used to produce marine and river ropes, cords, while short fiber is used for twine, packing twine, as well as coarse fabrics such as canvas, sailcloth, cloth, and burlap. Hemp shives are used to produce paper, thermal insulation panels, furniture materials, cellulose, plastics, and fuel. Seeds contain 30–35% fast-drying oil, which is used in the lacquer and paint industry, production of linseed oil, soap, and is also a valuable food product for preparing canned goods and confectionery items. Hemp seed, rich in proteins and fats, serves as a high-quality concentrated feed for livestock, especially dairy cows, providing high nutritional value compared to other feeds.
For sowing the Glukhivskie 46 variety, it is recommended to use cleaned, large seeds with purity not less than 96% and germination rate of 70–90%. High seed germination directly affects yield and fiber quality, as a reduction in germination to 70% may decrease fiber yield by up to 25%. Seed germination decreases over time, and after five years it may drop to 4–6%. Pre-sowing seed heating and treatment with TMTD at a rate of 2–3 kg per ton are effective measures.
Glukhivskie 46 hemp is grown in crop rotations and is widely cultivated in Ukraine, particularly in Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv regions. With proper cultivation technology, fiber yield reaches 10–12 centners per hectare. This variety is characterized by low content of narcotic compounds, making it safe for industrial use.
