Glera is a variety of technical dioecious hemp, intended for industrial use. The vegetation period of the plant ranges from 115 to 125 days. The variety is characterized by high fiber content — from 31 to 33 %, while the content of the psychoactive component THC is at a minimal level — from 0.001 to 0.003 %. The yield of Glera is quite high: straw yields from 6.7 to 9 tons per hectare, fiber from 2.4 to 2.9 tons, and seeds from 1.5 to 1.7 tons per hectare. The fiber quality is confirmed by tensile strength values in the range of 35–53 daN and linear density of 32–44 tex, making it suitable for various industrial purposes. The variety has been included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine, confirming its official recognition and quality.
In addition to industrial applications, hemp Glera is widely used in ecological and agricultural projects due to its powerful root system, capable of penetrating soil to a depth of two meters and more. This feature contributes to improving soil structure, increasing its aeration and permeability, as well as enriching the soil with the products of plant activity. Hemp effectively cleans soil from toxic substances, including radioactive elements and heavy metals, making it indispensable in phytoremediation and restoration of fertility of degraded lands.
The use of the Glera variety not only allows restoring contaminated and depleted soils, but also creates favorable conditions for further agricultural use of the land. Thanks to its ecological properties and high fiber quality, this hemp variety is a universal solution for industry, ecology, and the agricultural sector.
