Shambord F1

Red cabbage Chambord F1 — an early hybrid from the Dutch selection company Rijk Zwaan, suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses. The vegetation period is 70-75 days for spring planting and up to 80-90 days for summer planting, allowing for early and high-quality harvests. The plant features a strong root system and well-developed leafy foliage with dark green protective leaves that effectively shield the heads from sunburn and help maintain their marketable appearance.

The cabbage heads are round, snow-white, dense, and weigh between 1.5 to 2 kg. They have high covering ability, do not crack at the root, and are resistant to overripening, ensuring uniform ripening. The hybrid demonstrates excellent resistance to high temperatures and cold, as well as to diseases, significantly simplifying care and increasing cultivation reliability. The recommended planting density is 25-35 thousand plants per hectare, which is optimal for achieving high yields — up to 7-9 kg per square meter.

Chambord F1 excels in transportability and retains freshness and color during storage, making it universally suitable for both fresh market use and processing. The heads are suitable for canning, stewing, and consumption fresh, expanding culinary applications of this red cabbage. The hybrid is well-suited for conveyor planting after harvesting early crops, allowing efficient seasonal planning on the plot.
