Lace

Lace is a compact hydrangea variety that grows quickly and reaches heights from 1 m to 2.5 m depending on growing conditions. Its crown is rounded, branches are heavily branched, creating a dense bush structure. In the garden, the plant can be used as a single element or in group planting, and also suitable for hedges and container growing.

One of the main features of Lace are large, lacy inflorescences, reaching 30–35 cm. They consist of many sterile flowers with thin petals, creating a lace effect. Flowers change color from creamy and white to pink and greenish-red depending on soil pH: in acidic soil they are usually bluish, while in more neutral soil – pinkish.

The plant blooms from July to September, sometimes even longer if regular pruning is carried out in spring. Lace tolerates partial shade and moderate frosts well, does not require covering. For optimal growth, a nutritious, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter, well-drained and moist is required. Regular watering is especially important during dry periods. In spring, pruning to 2/3 of the bush height is recommended to stimulate branching and more abundant flowering, as well as sanitary pruning of old shoots every few years.
