Cucumber SALTY

Designed for the Perfect Pickle

The 'Malosolny' cucumber variety, bred by Elizaveta Romanovna Kudryavtseva, is a specialized tool for growers who focus on processing and canning. Unlike multipurpose hybrids, this variety prioritizes flesh texture, ensuring the cucumbers remain firm and crisp even after extended soaking in brine.

Agronomic Profile

The plant exhibits a vegetative growth habit, producing substantial foliage that provides natural shade for the fruits in open-field conditions. Its parthenocarpic nature means it does not require pollination, ensuring consistent yields even during unpredictable weather.

• Disease Resistance: The variety is well-protected against the 'Big Three' cucumber diseases: downy mildew, cladosporiosis, and powdery mildew. This resilience significantly reduces the need for frequent pesticide applications.
• Fruit Specs: With a length of 7–9 cm, the fruits hit the 'sweet spot' for pickling. Their heavily warted (knobby) skin increases surface area, allowing for better marinade absorption and a superior crunch.

Strategic Utility

The 'Malosolny' is the ideal choice for small-scale farms and gardeners whose primary goal is preservation. While its focus on canning might make it less ideal for fresh garden-to-table salads compared to thinner-skinned varieties, its performance in the jar is unmatched. If you are looking for a variety that won't go soft in a pickle jar, this is one of the most reliable and predictable options currently available on the Russian market.
