Mewa F1 cucumber is a high-yielding parthenocarpic hybrid of medium-sized fruit, developed by the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan. It is intended for cultivation in protected soil, especially during winter and spring, enabling a stable harvest under limited sunlight conditions. The plant is characterized by high stress resistance and resistance to viral diseases, ensuring reliable and high-quality production.
The fruits of the Mewa cucumber have a cylindrical shape with a smooth, shiny dark green skin. The fruit length ranges from 18 to 21 cm, the diameter from 3.5 to 5 cm, and the weight varies between 200–250 grams. Due to its characteristics, the cucumbers are ideal for fresh consumption, salad preparation, and sale at fresh vegetable markets. The hybrid is distinguished by its stable and high yield, making it a profitable choice for commercial cultivation.
The Mewa hybrid is grown using seedlings: seeds are sown in trays or special containers at a temperature no lower than +12–+13 degrees Celsius. The planting density is 2–3 plants per square meter or 30–50 thousand seeds per hectare. Regular watering, weed control, and fertilization are necessary for successful growth. Thanks to its qualities and ease of care, Mewa F1 cucumber is an excellent solution for protected soil and fresh vegetable markets.
