Cucumber Mertus RZ F1

Consistency in Greenhouse Production

For growers looking to maximize yield in professional greenhouse settings, Mertus RZ F1 from Rijk Zwaan represents the gold standard in productivity. This parthenocarpic hybrid is specifically engineered for glasshouse environments, offering a predictable crop cycle and uniform output that meets the high demands of the fresh market.

Why choose Mertus RZ F1?

• Vegetative Vigor: The plant exhibits strong vegetative growth, allowing it to recover quickly from harvesting stresses and maintain continuous production throughout the season.
• Disease Resistance Package: Built-in resistance to powdery mildew, cladosporium, fusarium, and verticillium wilt, as well as tomato mosaic virus, significantly reduces the need for chemical intervention, making it a more sustainable choice for large-scale operations.
• Market-Ready Fruit: The fruit is smooth, dark green, and typically weighs around 200 grams with a length of 15–20 cm. The absence of spines ensures high consumer appeal and better handling during the post-harvest grading process.

Advantages and Management

The primary strength of this variety is its flexibility and adaptability to intensive greenhouse cultivation. Because it is a vegetative type, crop management is essential: growers must balance the plant's natural vigor with proper generative stimulation to ensure optimal fruit set. For those who prioritize a smooth, high-quality, long-form cucumber that maintains size and color consistency throughout the harvest window, this hybrid is an ideal fit.

Mertus RZ F1 is designed for producers who don't want to gamble with their yield. By minimizing the risk of disease and providing a uniform, heavy-yielding product, it allows greenhouse managers to focus on efficiency and market delivery.
