Maize ZP 200

Reliable Yields in Challenging Climates

The ZP 200 hybrid, developed by the Zemun Polje Maize Research Institute in Serbia, is an ideal choice for growers looking for versatility and risk management. As a medium-early maturing hybrid, it provides operational flexibility, allowing farmers to optimize harvest scheduling without compromising quality.

Practical Field Performance

Designed for dual-purpose use, ZP 200 is equally effective for grain production and high-quality silage. Its flint-dent kernel type results in excellent test weight, making it a reliable commodity in the market. Beyond yield, the primary advantage of ZP 200 is its robust genetic resistance to common maize diseases, which reduces the reliance on heavy fungicide applications:

• High resistance to Fusarium species affecting both ears and stalks.
• Proven tolerance to common smut (Ustilago maydis).
• Strong defense against helminthosporium leaf blight and stalk smut.

Planting Strategies for Success

Achieving the full yield potential of ZP 200 requires precise plant population management based on local soil conditions. Under intensive irrigation or high-fertility conditions, a plant density of 70,000–75,000 plants/ha is recommended. For areas with moisture limitations or less intensive management, reducing the density to 55,000–60,000 plants/ha will prevent competition and help the crop better withstand seasonal stress, ensuring consistent performance throughout the growth cycle.
