Maize P8573

Stable grain yields in challenging environments

The P8573 maize hybrid from Corteva is designed for agronomists prioritizing predictability and profitability in grain production. This simple, dent-type hybrid has proven itself as a reliable tool for high performance, even in fields with high infection pressure.

Phytosanitary reliability and resistance

The key practical value of P8573 lies in its genetic resistance to helminthosporium. This allows farms to reduce pesticide usage by minimizing the need for multiple fungicide applications. Additionally, the hybrid shows robust resistance to soil-borne pests, making it an optimal solution for fields using conservation tillage, where the risk of pest infestation is traditionally higher.

Sowing strategy

With a maturity period of 120–140 days, this hybrid belongs to the mid-to-late group and requires strict adherence to agronomic practices:

• In regions with sufficient moisture and high-intensity farming, the recommended density is 75,000–80,000 plants per hectare.
• In areas with limited moisture or extensive farming systems, it is recommended to decrease density to 65,000–70,000 plants/ha to mitigate moisture competition.

P8573 fits perfectly into crop rotations focused on maximizing grain fill. Thanks to its dent-type grain, the hybrid demonstrates excellent moisture dry-down rates, which significantly improves harvest logistics and reduces post-harvest drying costs.
