Corn EFX 5228 is a tall annual herbaceous plant with a strong fibrous root system penetrating to a depth of 100-150 cm. The stem is upright, reaching a height of up to 3-4 meters and a diameter of about 7 cm, and is not hollow inside. Air roots form at lower nodes, anchoring the plant and supplying it with water and nutrients. The leaves are large, linear-lanceolate, up to 1 meter long and about 10 cm wide. The vegetative period of corn lasts approximately 90 to 150 days, with an optimal growing temperature range of 20-24 °C, and the plant requires good sunlight. Hybrid EFX 5228 belongs to the medium-maturing varieties with a vegetative cycle of about 115-120 days. Plants reach a height of 250-270 cm, and ear attachment height is 105-120 cm. The ear is cylindrical, about 28 cm long, with tooth-shaped kernels of yellow color and deep hue. The ear forms 14-16 rows of kernels, with 37-39 kernels per row. The stem is strong but relatively slender, with a well-developed and resilient root system. EFX 5228 is characterized by high plasticity and adaptability to various climatic conditions, including cold springs and hot, dry summers. The hybrid is resistant to lodging throughout the vegetative period and has good resistance to Fusarium and other corn diseases. To achieve maximum yield, it is recommended to maintain optimal planting density depending on the growing region.
