COLLECTIVE 172 MV is an early-maturing three-row hybrid corn (Zea mays L.) intended for cultivation in the Volga region. The plant is characterized by high height and medium ear length, which has a colored core. The hybrid’s grain is cream-colored with a yellowish-white upper part, giving it an attractive appearance and good technological properties. The hybrid is resistant to southern helminthosporiosis and is lightly affected by blister rust, ensuring stable yields and reduced losses during cultivation.
Average grain yield is 33.1 centners per hectare, with normalized dry matter reaching 105.8 centners per hectare, indicating high productivity and product quality. The plant has a medium angle between the main ear axis and side branches, and the number of primary side branches is small. The absence of anthocyanin coloring in the silk is an additional feature of the hybrid.
For successful cultivation of COLLECTIVE 172 MV, light-loving conditions and a warm climate with optimal temperature from 20 to 30 °C are required. Corn is sensitive to irrigation and prefers light, fertile, and well-heated soils, and does not tolerate acidic or waterlogged areas. To obtain an early harvest, seed soaking for 24 hours followed by storage at 20 °C during the day and 6 °C at night for 10-12 days is recommended. Seed planting depth is 6-8 cm. The hybrid is versatile in use: grain can be used fresh, for canning, or freezing.
