Maize Bonfire

A Flexible Solution for Intensive Farming

The Bonfire maize hybrid from Spanish producer Semillas Fito is designed for agricultural operations that prioritize versatility and risk management. As a single-cross hybrid, it offers high genetic uniformity, ensuring predictable performance across diverse field conditions.

Dual-Purpose Performance

The primary appeal of the Bonfire hybrid is its adaptability to varying farm needs. Unlike specialized hybrids that limit the grower, this option provides two distinct paths for harvest:

• Grain Production: Bonfire excels in grain output, supported by robust early growth and rapid dry-down at maturity. This helps farmers save significantly on post-harvest drying costs, making it a highly profitable option for grain-focused operations.
• Silage Production: For dairy and livestock farms, this hybrid provides an excellent balance of biomass and starch content. It yields high-quality silage, ensuring energy-dense feed that supports overall herd health and productivity.

Practical Field Application

In terms of farm management, Bonfire allows for operational flexibility. Agronomists can monitor crop development throughout the season and decide on the final harvest method—grain or silage—based on current market conditions or specific feed stock requirements.

The genetics provided by Semillas Fito ensure that the crop responds well to standard intensive agronomic practices, including optimized seeding rates and precision fertilization. Its reliability in the field reduces the risk of yield gaps, resulting in consistent crop establishment and uniform development. Bonfire is a strategic asset for both large-scale commercial farming and mid-sized enterprises looking to maximize the return on every hectare planted.
