Chrysanthemum ZEFIRKA

Selection Excellence from SCFNAC: The 'Zefirka' Chrysanthemum

In the landscape of modern decorative floriculture, the 'Zefirka' chrysanthemum variety stands out as a triumph of systematic breeding. Developed by the expert team at the North Caucasian Federal Agrarian Research Center (SCFNAC) — including researchers Vladimir Kozhevnikov, Natalia Shchegrinets, and Ekaterina Seliverstova — this variety represents a high standard for bush-type garden cultures. It combines aesthetic appeal with reliable horticultural performance, making it a sought-after choice for both landscape professionals and avid home gardeners.

Key Botanical Profile

The 'Zefirka' is a medium-sized bush, typically ranging from 30 to 60 cm in height. This compact stature allows for versatile application, whether as a focal point in flower beds, a border plant, or as part of a mixed arrangement. The variety's physical properties are distinct:

• Flower Size: Medium-blooming (5–10 cm in diameter), providing a balanced and lush appearance without the need for additional support.
• Vibrant Color: A distinct yellow hue that remains consistent and pure throughout the blooming season.
• Growth Cycle: The plant requires 91 to 120 days from planting to bloom, allowing for precise seasonal garden planning.

Cultivation and Market Positioning

As a product of the SCFNAC breeding program, 'Zefirka' is well-adapted to regional climate variations, though it thrives best in sunny, open locations. Given its moderate frost resistance, extra protection is recommended in regions with harsh winters. A lack of sunlight will lead to legginess and a loss of the compact form, so site selection is paramount for this cultivar.

The value of 'Zefirka' lies in its predictability. As a patented variety, it ensures that growers receive a plant that consistently meets its genetic promises—from the timing of the bloom to the structural integrity of the bush. Its ability to serve as a reliable, decorative element in patios and small garden zones makes it an essential asset for those who value both beauty and scientific consistency in their horticulture.
