Wild cabbage Scarlet

Practical Field Use of Scarlet Red Cabbage

The Scarlet variety from the Czech breeder Moravoseed is engineered for commercial producers who prioritize long-term storage and high-quality fresh market output. With a growing cycle of 120–130 days, this variety serves as a cornerstone for late-season production, allowing farms to supply the market effectively during the winter months.

Key application scenarios for the Scarlet variety:

• Extended Shelf Life: The dense, heavy head structure makes it an excellent candidate for cold storage facilities, maintaining its vibrant purple color and crisp texture well into spring.
• Fresh Market Supply: Its aesthetic appeal and consistent size make it a favorite for retail chains and supermarkets, where presentation and durability are paramount.
• Logistical Efficiency: The firm heads are resistant to mechanical handling, reducing shrinkage and waste during grading and long-distance transport.

In terms of field performance, Scarlet demonstrates robust adaptability to varying climatic conditions, typical of temperate growing zones. For optimal results, growers should focus on consistent hydration during the critical head-forming stage. This Moravoseed variety is a reliable tool for professional farmers looking to mitigate risks associated with market fluctuations by ensuring a high-quality product is ready for sale long after the standard harvest period.
