Actinidia 'Rubina' is a mid-season variety that bears fruit quickly, already within 3–4 years after planting. The fruits have an oval shape and a dark purple or ruby color, making them attractive in the field. The flesh is dark red, exceptionally sweet, and rich in flavor; the average fruit weight is 8–10 g, and the yield is 12–15 kg per bush.
The plant grows as a vine up to 3–8 m long and requires support. High frost resistance (down to -30 °C) allows cultivation in various climatic conditions, while the smooth skin of the fruits facilitates harvesting. Harvesting begins in the first decade of September and continues until the end of the season.
'Rubina' is noted for its high resistance to diseases and natural pests, making it easy to care for: it does not require chemical treatment. The leaves are large, smooth, and glossy with a raspberry-colored petiole tint. The variety is self-pollinating, but yields increase with the presence of male plants. It is suitable for planting in acidic soils (sand, chernozem) and in sunny or semi-shaded conditions.
The fruits are rich in vitamins C, E, and riboflavin, which help increase hemoglobin, reduce the risk of kidney stones, regulate blood pressure, and rejuvenate the skin. They are widely used to make compotes, jams, syrups, marmalade, and even wine. The vine consumes approximately 5 liters of water per day, so adequate watering is essential during dry periods.
