Actinidia 'Rima' is a large-vining plant reaching heights of 10 to 12 meters, requiring a strong support or tying for stable growth. It develops quickly, beginning to fruit as early as the third year of life, while a mature plant can yield up to 20 kg of fruit per season.
The fruits of the 'Rima' variety are distinguished by their large size – from 15 to 18 grams per unit, making them some of the tastiest and largest among actinidias. Each fruit has a light green skin when fully ripe, soft, juicy, and aromatic flesh with notes of exotic fruits, making them popular both fresh and in culinary recipes.
For successful cultivation, fertile, light soils are required. The plant grows well in direct sunlight but may scorch under strong light, so it is recommended to place it in shaded areas or provide shade. Actinidia 'Rima' is practically resistant to diseases and has high frost resistance – withstanding temperatures down to -25 °C. Seedlings are grown in R9-sized containers, weighing 30–40 cm, with the first year of life being one year.
Pollination is done crosswise: the plant is dioecious and requires male pollinators. After harvesting, fruits are gathered into small bunches, which facilitates their processing and transportation. Thanks to high yield, ease of cultivation, and appealing taste, 'Rima' is an excellent choice for gardeners looking for an exotic plant with great sales potential.
