Ageratum BLUE HOARFROST

Breeding Heritage and Regional Standards

Ageratum 'Siniy Iney' (Blue Frost) is the product of meticulous work by the Russian school of breeding—the Educational and Scientific Center 'Vegetable Experimental Station' at the Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing. In an era dominated by imported plant material, this variety remains a benchmark for those seeking time-tested genetics adapted to local climatic realities.

Agrotechnics and Visual Profile

The variety is defined by its recognizable globular flower heads in a deep blue hue. Unlike many first-generation hybrids, 'Siniy Iney' exhibits remarkable plasticity: it thrives equally well when grown via seedlings or direct sowing into the ground. Its high ornamental value allows it to be used in various landscaping scenarios:

• Borders and precise flowerbed zoning.
• Container gardening for terraces and entrances.
• Creation of dense color blocks in open flowerbeds.

The plant demonstrates excellent vitality in both full sun and partial shade, making it an essential tool for landscapers working with diverse site conditions.

Expert Assessment

The efforts of breeders (E. A. Sytov, E. G. Kolesnikova, and others) have resulted in a variety that harmoniously balances aesthetics with functionality. By choosing 'Siniy Iney,' growers and landscape designers ensure predictable outcomes: a stable bush architecture and intense blooming patterns that often outperform more demanding non-native varieties.
