Pseudomassariosis

As the infection progresses, the fruiting bodies of the fungus, known as pseudothecia, emerge through the epidermis. These appear as tiny, black, bump-like structures scattered across the affected bark surface.

Cracking and fissuring of the bark are commonly observed in areas where the fungus has colonized the underlying cambium and phloem tissues, exposing the wood to secondary pathogens and environmental stressors.

Leaves on the affected branches often exhibit chlorosis or wilting due to the restricted transport of water and nutrients caused by the fungal damage to the vascular system of the branch.
