Rex Begonia (Begonia-Rex-Hybridae x Begonia hatacoa) is a striking decorative foliage plant belonging to the Begoniaceae family. It is prized for its dramatic, multicolored leaves with complex textures and patterns.

Originating from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, this hybrid species requires specific environmental conditions. It thrives in moderate temperatures, ideally between 18°C and 24°C, avoiding drafts or cold spots.

Bright, indirect light is essential for maintaining the vivid leaf colors. Placing the plant in deep shade will result in loss of variegation, while direct sun will scorch the delicate leaf surface.

Soil requirements involve a well-draining, peat-based mix with a slightly acidic pH. Incorporating perlite or coarse sand helps improve aeration, preventing the roots from suffocating in heavy, waterlogged soil.
