The life cycle of Sarcoptidae is strictly endoparasitic, occurring within the host's epidermis. The cycle progresses from egg to larva, followed by protonymph and teleonymph stages, finally reaching the adult (imago) form. These mites thrive in environments with stable, moderate temperatures and high humidity, which are often characteristic of intensively managed animal housing facilities.

The damage caused by these mites manifests as severe dermatitis, intense pruritus, crust formation, and secondary skin infections in animals. This parasitic infestation leads to decreased livestock performance, weight loss, and reduced product quality.
