The economic impact of these insects lies in their potential to damage the root systems and the base of young plants. They are frequently observed in greenhouses, nurseries, and cold frames where favorable microclimatic conditions promote their population growth. Damage is usually localized but can severely weaken young seedlings.

The life cycle of scaly crickets involves the stages of egg, nymph, and adult. Eggs are typically laid in the soil or in sheltered crevices near ant nests. Nymphs go through several molting stages, gradually developing into adult forms. The duration of the life cycle can range from several months to a full year depending on environmental temperature.

Control measures primarily involve sound agricultural practices: regular deep soil cultivation, weed management, and maintaining proper humidity levels in enclosed growing spaces. If populations reach an economic threshold, the application of contact-stomach insecticides and the use of targeted baiting stations are effective in reducing their numbers.
