The primary agricultural impact of these organisms is not direct herbivory, but the devastation of the soil food web. Bipaliidae are voracious predators of earthworms, which are essential for soil aeration, decomposition of organic matter, and fertility. By decimating earthworm populations, these flatworms indirectly impair the health and vigor of vegetable, fruit, and ornamental crops.

The biology of Bipaliidae is centered on high adaptability and resilience. They rely heavily on moisture for survival and locomotion. Reproduction is largely asexual, occurring through fragmentation where the posterior end of the worm detaches and regenerates into a new individual. The loss of beneficial soil fauna leads to soil compaction and nutrient deficiencies.
