The disease cycle often intensifies during the late summer when insect populations reach their peak, providing continuous production of the sugary exudates required for fungal colonization.

Cultural practices are essential, including pruning branches to improve air circulation and sunlight penetration. This reduces the humidity levels that favor fungal development.

Cleaning up crop residues and removing weeds around the field helps eliminate the overwintering sites for both the insects and the fungal spores.
