The fungus is named "biformis" due to its ability to produce two distinct types of conidiophores and conidia, an adaptation that enhances its survival and dispersal capacity within the host plant environment.

It typically overwinters in plant debris or as resting mycelium within the soil, awaiting favorable temperature and moisture conditions to initiate a new infection cycle.

Laboratory identification usually involves isolating the fungus and examining its specific morphological structures, such as the conidial chains and sporulation patterns under magnification.

As an obligate or facultative parasite, the fungus colonizes leaf tissues, extracting nutrients and disrupting the normal physiological processes of the host plant.

What it damages
