Scilly F1

Scilly F1 zucchini is an early hybrid developed by the Dutch breeding company Seminis. This variety has a short vegetation period — fruits ripen as early as 45 days after germination. The plant is compact, strong-growing, and open-type, with a robust and sprawling bush structure that protects the fruits from sunburn. Leaves are medium-sized, green, and lobed.

The fruits of Scilly F1 zucchini have an attractive cylindrical shape, measuring 18–21 cm in length and weighing 600–1100 grams. Their color is light green with white spots; the flesh is white, juicy, tender, and has excellent flavor. Dry matter content is 4.2–4.8%, and sugar level is 2.2–3.5%. Harvesting is recommended to be done continuously, a couple of times per week, as fruits reach technical maturity.

The hybrid shows moderate resistance to yellow mosaic virus of common cucumber (ZYMV) and watermelon mosaic virus (WMV), which enhances its reliability in cultivation. Scilly F1 is suitable for cultivation in open ground during warm seasons — spring, summer, and especially autumn. Zucchini can be consumed fresh or used for preparing various dishes and processing.
