Zucchini CAROLITA

Efficiency and Resilience in Squash Production

For large-scale vegetable producers, the choice of hybrid is a critical risk-management decision. The 'Karolita' squash from French breeder Vilmorin-Mikado is designed to handle the pressures of commercial farming, offering consistent results that meet market demands for uniform, high-quality produce weighing between 200 and 500 grams.

Disease Resistance for Maximum Yield

Pathogen management is the biggest challenge in squash production. The 'Karolita' hybrid features built-in genetic resistance to Powdery Mildew and Watermelon Mosaic Virus. For the grower, this translates into a reduction in fungicide applications, significantly lowering input costs and ensuring the crop remains productive throughout the growing season, even under high pressure from local pathogens.

Field Performance and Harvesting

• Compact Bush Architecture: The plant habit allows for higher density planting, optimizing the yield per hectare and ensuring better airflow to minimize humidity-related issues.
• Uniformity: The light-green cylindrical fruits are standardized, which simplifies the grading process and enhances presentation for retail and wholesale markets.
• Labour Efficiency: The open-bush structure makes harvesting faster and less labor-intensive, directly improving the bottom line of the operation.

Whether planted in open fields or under temporary plastic tunnels, 'Karolita' demonstrates resilience and a predictable growth cycle. Its ability to maintain ideal market weight (200–500g) over an extended period provides flexibility in harvest scheduling, reducing waste from oversized vegetables.
