Magnat is an early-maturing winter barley variety with a short spring growth period, intended for cultivation in southern regions of Ukraine and the North Caucasus region of Russia. The variety is characterized by high adaptability to meteorological conditions, allowing successful sowing in February windows and achieving good germination both in autumn and early spring. The vegetation period is approximately 240-250 days, ensuring timely grain ripening.
The Magnat variety exhibits high yield potential, reaching 90-100 centners per hectare in Ukraine and approximately 32 centners per hectare in the North Caucasus region under favorable conditions and good agrofond. It possesses high resistance to adverse factors such as lodging, shattering, drought, diseases, cold, and powdery mildew. Additionally, the variety demonstrates good winter hardiness and a high tillering coefficient, contributing to stable yield formation.
Magnat is a dual-purpose grain and fodder variety with a thousand-grain weight ranging from 38-45 grams and protein content from 10.4% to 17%. The recommended seeding rate is 3 to 4 million seeds per hectare. To achieve maximum productivity, fertilizers should be applied and harvesting should begin when grain moisture does not exceed 16-18%. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine, as well as in the Southern foothill zone of the Krasnodar Krai.
