Tulip Johann Gutenberg

Late-Season Elegance

The 'Johann Gutenberg' tulip stands out among fringed varieties for its complex, dual-tone aesthetic. Unlike solid-colored counterparts, this cultivar features a distinct transition from deep red to soft cream, giving the petals a luminous, almost fiery appearance. Its signature characteristic is the dense, intricate fringe along the petal edges, which adds tactile depth and makes it a standout choice for high-end landscape design.

Strengths and Considerations

• Key Strengths: High resistance to late spring temperature fluctuations. The needle-like fringe remains surprisingly resilient during light rain, unlike more delicate varieties. The sharp contrast makes it an ideal centerpiece for group plantings.
• Care Notes: As a late-blooming fringed tulip, it performs best in wind-sheltered areas. Its medium height and heavy, luxurious bloom require careful placement to ensure structural integrity.

This variety is perfect for gardeners looking to extend the floral season well into the late spring, long after standard tulips have faded. 'Johann Gutenberg' is equally suited for garden borders and cut flower arrangements, where it maintains its striking appearance for up to two weeks with proper care.
