Redetto

The Redetto tomato is a hybrid variety developed by Rijk Zwaan and approved for use in 2020. This indeterminate variety is primarily intended for cultivation in greenhouses and on substrates, including light culture, allowing for extended harvest cycles. The plant is tall and open-type, forming a strong root system and showing resistance to various diseases, which ensures stable and high yields of up to 45 kg per square meter.

The fruits of the Redetto tomato have a cube-shaped or pepper-like form with a ribbed surface, weighing 20-25 grams. They possess a very bright red color with an appetizing sheen, are not prone to cracking, and retain a crisp texture. High sugar content, up to 8.5 on the Brix scale, gives the fruits a sweet dessert-like flavor, making them ideal for fresh consumption. The tomato clusters are well-formed, with calyxes and stems that remain green for a long time, improving the appearance and ease of harvest.

Redetto is recommended to be grown with a fruit cluster regulation of 8-11 fruits, which promotes optimal fruit development and quality. This variety is well-suited for packaging in 250-gram portions and can be harvested both individually and in clusters. Due to its flavor, disease resistance, and high yield, the Redetto tomato is an excellent choice for greenhouse cultivation and fresh consumption.
