Tomato HANGING

Growing the «Ampelny» Variety: Operator’s Perspective

If you are looking to optimize your harvest area, the «Ampelny» variety by «Ilyinichna» is a reliable choice for container gardening. This tomato is bred specifically for hanging baskets and pots, turning a small balcony or terrace into a productive space.

Performance and Characteristics

With a maturity period of up to 90 days, it is a fast-growing variety that fits perfectly into short seasons. As a grower, you will appreciate its predictable growth pattern: the trailing stems do not require complex trellising, which significantly saves time on maintenance.

• Fruit weight of 20-40 grams is ideal for snacking and preservation.
• The round shape allows for efficient packing in small jars.
• The vibrant red color persists even in indoor or semi-shaded conditions.

Maintenance and Care

Success with this hybrid depends on proper soil management. Given the restricted space in a container, a 5-liter pot is the minimum requirement for a healthy root system. The key to maximizing yield is consistent moisture; because the substrate volume is limited, it is vital to avoid dehydration. The plant shows excellent resilience, and in case of accidental branch damage, it quickly compensates with new growth, ensuring steady production throughout the season.
