Sunflower OCMS 98 is a mid-season linoleic hybrid with a high yield potential, developed using innovative genetics. The plant is characterized by its tall height, medium seed thickness, and a medium-length vegetation period ranging from 115 to 120 days. The head has a convex shape and droops downward, with flowering occurring at medium maturity. Seeds contain high oil content — from 50 to 54%, making this hybrid attractive for producers focused on both product quality and quantity.
The hybrid is resistant to major sunflower diseases, including downy mildew, verticillium, phoma, sclerotinia of the head and stem, as well as rust. This ensures yield stability even under various vegetative stress conditions. The plant demonstrates good initial growth rates, high drought resistance, and lodging resistance, which facilitates successful cultivation in different climatic zones, including the Polesye, forest-steppe, and northern steppe.
Recommended cultivation technology is classic, with a sowing rate of 50 to 65 thousand seeds per hectare depending on soil moisture levels. Seeds are supplied in packs of 150,000 units, treated with AGROSTART and PONCHO D150 preparations for protection and improved germination. The breeder of the hybrid is the French company MAS Seeds®, and production takes place in France, Spain, and Ukraine. OCMS 98 is suitable for producers aiming to achieve high and stable sunflower yields with an excellent phytosanitary profile.
