MD 2 is an early-maturing sunflower hybrid (Helianthus annuus L.) designed for cultivation in the Lower Volga region. The plant is characterized by green leaf coloration with moderate blistering, lack of branching, and high maturity height. The hybrid's vegetation period is about 116 days, ensuring timely maturation and harvest. Seeds have distinct marginal stripes, with the mass of 1000 seeds reaching 56.7 grams, indicating the bulk and quality of the seed material. The MD 2 hybrid is distinguished by high yield: the average figure is 19.4 centners per hectare, and the maximum is up to 34.2 centners per hectare. Oil content in seeds reaches 46%, allowing for the production of up to 6.2 centners of oil per hectare. These figures make MD 2 a profitable choice for the production of edible oil and other products based on it. High fat content in seeds contributes to obtaining high-quality and nutritious oil. Sunflower MD 2 possesses natural drought resistance, which is particularly important for cultivation in regions with variable climates. The plant prefers easily warmed soils and requires sufficient moisture during flowering for maximum productivity. Thanks to hybrid breeding, MD 2 has increased resistance to diseases and unfavorable conditions, ensuring a stable yield and high product quality. This hybrid is suitable for intensive cultivation technologies and can be successfully used in various agro-climatic zones.
