Sunflower MARTIN SUPER

Focused on Large-Seed Confectionery Production

The "Martin Super" sunflower variety is a specialized selection designed for agricultural enterprises aiming to produce high-quality confectionery-grade seeds. Its defining features are a large, high-caliber seed and a distinct grey-striped shell, making it a preferred choice for the snack and kernel processing industries.

Field Management and Production Strategies

To maximize the performance of "Martin Super," growers must focus on creating optimal conditions for grain filling. The variety requires specific management to maintain its large size and avoid the reduction in caliber associated with poor density control.

• Seeding Density: Avoiding overcrowding is critical. A calculated seed rate ensures that each sunflower head receives sufficient nutrients and moisture, which is the key to maintaining a consistently large seed size at harvest.
• Crop Management: As a variety bred for quality rather than just oil content, "Martin Super" responds well to standard field operations focused on weed control and protection of the head against diseases that might affect the outer shell.
• Harvesting Tactics: Given the size of the seeds, efficient harvesting is vital. Early desiccation at the correct moisture levels (25–30%) is highly recommended to prevent premature shattering and to maintain the purity and integrity of the large seeds.

Incorporating "Martin Super" into a crop rotation is a tactical decision for producers targeting the value-added market. By focusing on grain weight and appearance, this variety provides a reliable pathway to higher market prices compared to standard oilseed hybrids, catering directly to the demand for premium confectionery sunflower seeds.
