Description A 119 B
A 119 B is a medium-early maturing sunflower hybrid belonging to the linoleic group hybrids with a vegetation period of about 115 days. Developed using Pioneer® technologies, it is intended for cultivation in the Polissya, steppe, and forest-steppe regions. The hybrid is characterized by high yield and increased oil content in seeds, making it attractive to farmers seeking maximum productivity. It is drought-tolerant and demonstrates high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including verticillium wilt, white mold, and false powdery mildew, as well as resistance to seven main races of downy mildew. A 119 B features slow initial growth, good seedling uniformity, and simultaneous maturation of plants. The flower head is dense and slender, dries quickly, and the seeds are large and deep, contributing to high productive potential. The hybrid responds well to improved agronomic practices, including application of mineral fertilizers and maintaining optimal planting density. It is resistant to rust, white and gray molds, and exhibits enhanced stem lodging resistance, ensuring reliability during mechanized harvest. For successful cultivation of A 119 B, proper soil preparation to retain moisture and ensure adequate nutrient supply to the plants is recommended. Sunflower requires substantial fertilizer doses, especially potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen. Application of mineral fertilizers such as superphosphate with microelements, potassium fertilizers, and nitrogenous topdressing in the form of ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulfate promotes full development and high yield. Optimal plant density varies depending on soil moisture and ranges from 45 to 55 thousand plants per hectare.
