FR 87401 is a sunflower hybrid with medium-early maturity and high yield potential, reaching 50-55 c/ha. The vegetation period is 112-116 days, allowing the hybrid to successfully adapt to various climatic conditions, particularly in the forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine. Plants are tall with slightly convex flower heads, and the 1000-seed mass varies from 60 to 65 grams. Oil content in seeds is at the level of 48-50%, making this hybrid attractive for high-quality oil production.
The hybrid exhibits excellent phytosanitary status and high resistance to major sunflower diseases. It shows drought and lodging resistance at the 8-point level, ensuring stable yields under adverse conditions. It also demonstrates high tolerance to downy mildew (strains A–G), false powdery mildew (RM9), Phomopsis, Phomopsis, gray and white mold, verticillium wilt, and stem and head rot, significantly reducing the risk of yield loss.
To achieve maximum productivity, optimal plant density is recommended: 50-55 thousand/ha in the steppe zone, 60-65 thousand/ha in the forest-steppe zone, and 65-70 thousand/ha in the Polissia region. The optimal sowing period is May, with late sowing possible until June 10, with harvest without desiccation. All these characteristics make FR 87401 a versatile and reliable choice for cultivation in various agroclimatic conditions, ensuring high yield and product quality.
