The 'Capiton Novozhilov's Memory' variety belongs to the linseed-type safflower and is cultivated under forest-steppe conditions of the Middle Volga region. During four years of research (2021‑2024) at the experimental field of the Penza Research Institute of Agricultural Sciences, its germination rate ranged from 74.1% to 81.2%, while plant survival at harvest ranged from 79.8% to 89.6%. Seed yield in this variety fluctuated between 1.32 and 1.36 t/ha, which is the lowest figure among the studied varieties. Nevertheless, 'Capiton Novozhilov's Memory' demonstrates stability under various climatic conditions: in moderately droughty years (GTM 0.86–0.87) and in excessively wet ones (GTM 1.38), it maintains stable productivity.
Seeds of the variety are characterized by a mean weight of 1000 seeds of approximately 30.4‑32.2 g, indicating a moderate size and ease of mechanical processing. The percentage of linoleic acid in the seeds ranges from 75.98% to 81.40%, ensuring good oil content and quality.
The 'Capiton Novozhilov's Memory' variety is suitable for cultivation in areas with a moderately droughty climate in the Middle Volga region. It can be used both as an oilseed crop and in agro-landscape schemes where resistance to stress conditions is important. Despite the lower yield compared to some other safflower varieties, its stable germination and survival rates make it a valuable choice for farmers seeking reliable sowing in variable climatic conditions.
