Rapeseed Otaman

Proven Resilience in Ukrainian Climate

The winter rapeseed variety "Otaman," developed by the Institute of Oilseeds of NAAS, is designed for farmers who prioritize consistency over experimental intensiveness. Unlike many foreign hybrids that demand perfect agronomic conditions, this variety is built for the harsh realities of the Ukrainian Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones.

Key Advantages

• Winter Hardiness: This is the standout feature of the variety. It excels at surviving dramatic temperature fluctuations during early spring, significantly reducing the risk of thin stands.
• Drought Tolerance: Genetic optimization allows "Otaman" to utilize soil moisture efficiently during critical growth stages, keeping yields stable even in dry seasons.
• Standability: Its robust stem structure minimizes lodging, ensuring that harvest remains efficient and loss-free, even with high-tonnage yields.

Why Choose Otaman?

For agricultural enterprises focusing on mid-intensity technology, "Otaman" offers a significant cost-to-benefit advantage. It provides stable yields of 3.5–4.5 t/ha without requiring the extreme chemical inputs often associated with high-priced imported hybrids. Furthermore, the oil content meets industrial processing standards, ensuring reliable market demand.

While this variety is highly adaptable, it rewards precise planting dates. It is not an "ultra-early" hybrid, so planning the logistics for spring nutrient application is key to fully unlocking its yield potential before the peak summer heat arrives. It represents a pragmatic choice for producers who want reliable, high-quality output without unnecessary operational complexity.
