The spring rape variety «Novosel» belongs to the 00 type, which means the absence of erucic acid and low glucosinolate content, making it safe and high-quality for oil and feed production. The plants have a medium height of about 102 cm, light green leaves of medium length and width with moderate edge serration. Flowers are golden-yellow, and pods are of medium size with a medium-length beak. The mass of 1000 seeds varies from 2.4 to 2.7 grams, corresponding to the variety standards. The vegetative period is from 83 to 133 days, allowing the variety to be used in various climatic conditions, including the Northwestern, Central, Volga-Vyatka, and Ural regions.

«Novosel» is characterized by high seed yield, which averages from 12.5 to 15 centners per hectare, with maximum indicators reaching up to 28.9 c/ha. Fat content in seeds ranges from 42.1–47.3%, ensuring high oil collection – from 6.6 to 9.4 c/ha. Erucic acid in oil is practically absent (0.0–0.5%), and glucosinolates in the meal are 0.4–0.7%, confirming the quality and safety of the product. The variety is resistant to lodging and shattering, which facilitates mechanized harvesting and reduces yield losses.

The «Novosel» variety is well adapted to local growing conditions and is suitable for growing for seeds. It has a medium-early maturity type and medium drought resistance.
