The winter wheat variety Generous Yield was developed at the Bila Tserkva Experimental-Selection Station of the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet of UAAN
Breeders of the variety: Burdeniuk-Tarashevich L.A., Chayka A.M., Dubova A.A.
Registered in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2012 for cultivation in the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia zones of Ukraine.
Notable characteristics and trial performance of the variety
Erythrospermum type. Strong waxy bloom on the ear, medium-height plants, cylindrical ear, medium density, medium length, white awns, awns at the ear tip very long. Kernel red, 1000-kernel weight — 45g.
Biological and agronomic characteristics
Medium-early, heads emerge 2 days later than Bila Tserkva dwarf and 2-3 days earlier than Perlin Forest-Steppe.
Winter hardiness enhanced — 8.6 points.
Plant height 85-88 cm. Resistance to lodging enhanced — 9.0 points.
Resistant to powdery mildew, brown rust, and septoria.
Resistant to Fusarium ear and root rot.
High-yielding variety. Based on 2-year trials in 2009 and 2010, average yield on state variety stations in the Polissia zone is 53.9 c/ha. In the Forest-Steppe zone, yield was 66.6 c/ha.
Potential yield of the variety is high. For instance, in 2009, at the Andrushovskaya State Variety Station of the Zhytomyr Regional Center for Variety Testing, yield of the variety Generous Yield was 73.0 c/ha (+3.9 c/ha); in Khmelnytskyi Regional Center for Variety Testing — 93.7 c/ha (+10.7 c/ha); at the Mirgorodskaya State Variety Station of the Poltava Regional Center for Variety Testing — 77.0 c/ha (+12.9 c/ha).
Bread-making properties of the variety Generous Yield are strong — raw gluten content in the grain is 28-32% of high quality.
