Sunflower NS H 494 is a high-yielding simple hybrid designed for cultivation using the SUMO technology. It features a medium-early maturity with a vegetation period of 104-108 days and plant height ranging from 160 to 180 cm. The head of this hybrid is thin, convex, with a diameter of 22-25 cm, and the seeds are black, elongated. The 1000-seed weight is 60-70 g, and the yield potential exceeds 55 centners per hectare. The oil content of the seeds ranges from 47-49%, making this hybrid valuable for oilseed purposes. The hybrid NS H 494 exhibits high resistance to various stress factors and diseases. It shows very high drought, lodging, and shattering resistance, as well as high tolerance to Phomopsis, Phomosis, and gray mold. Additionally, the hybrid is resistant to sunflower moth and sunflower downy mildew, including 7 and more races (A-G+). Thanks to its genetic resistance to sulfonylurea-based herbicides, NS H 494 allows effective control of a broad spectrum of broadleaf weeds, significantly simplifying agronomic practices. The origin of the hybrid is linked to the Institute of Horticulture and Vegetable Growing in Novi Sad (Serbia), and it has been registered in Ukraine since 2017. Using the hybrid NS H 494 in combination with the insurance herbicide Grozny Expert (NERTUS®) ensures reliable weed control, including goosegrass. The hybrid's high stability under adverse climatic conditions and its natural immunity to diseases such as rust and white mold make it an optimal choice for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine.
