The sunflower variety Lakomka is a mid-season confectionery variety with large black seeds, distinguished by a high oil content — up to 45.2%. This variety has a yield potential of up to 3.5 tons per hectare and can provide an oil harvest of about 1.44 tons per hectare. Lakomka seeds have excellent taste qualities, reminiscent of nuts, which makes them in demand in the confectionery industry and for oil production.
Lakomka sunflower plants reach a height of 180-210 cm, have large convex heads with a diameter of 20-30 cm and a mass of 1000 seeds ranging from 100-140 grams. The vegetative period lasts from 90 to 115 days, allowing the variety to be successfully grown in various climatic conditions, including areas with moisture deficits. Lakomka is characterized by high drought resistance, weak shattering upon over-ripening, and resistance to lodging, which ensures crop stability.
The variety possesses genetically determined resistance to the first five races of dodder, downy mildew, and is also tolerant to grey and white mold. Due to its plasticity and unpretentiousness, Lakomka adapts well to traditional cultivation techniques and is suitable for all climatic zones of Ukraine. Moreover, this sunflower is an excellent nectar source, adding additional value to its cultivation.
