Description Eugenia
Phlox paniculata 'Eugenia' is a perennial herbaceous plant of domestic breeding, created by V.V. Korchagin and V.G. Borisova in 2011. The bush is compact; during flowering, its height reaches 60–80 cm, while the inflorescence diameter is 4.0–4.5 cm. The flower is bright pink with a raspberry eye and white strokes around it; the petals are slightly wavy and bent upwards, creating lush round-cone-shaped inflorescences. The plant is fragrant and tolerates frosts down to -40 °C.

'Eugenia' prefers light partial shade or direct sun but cannot tolerate water stagnation. Suitable soil is loamy or sandy loam with a slightly acidic to neutral reaction, fertile and moist, but without excess moisture. The rhizome grows vertically upwards, so it is necessary to annually add fertile substrate to the base of the bush to cover the buds of renewal. The plant is sensitive to drought: in the absence of water, the lower leaves yellow and wither.

To maintain the plant's health, it is recommended to apply preventive fungicide treatment, and in autumn, to cut back the shoots as low as possible to reduce the risk of fungal diseases in the next season. 'Eugenia' is widely used in landscape design: it can be planted along walls and fences, in flowerbed compositions with other phloxes or ornamental plants, and also used for cutting in floral compositions. Planting rate is 4–9 pieces per square meter, depending on the desired planting density.
