Victoria

The «Victoria» peanut variety was developed and patented by the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR) taking into account the climatic conditions of the southern regions of Russia, including the Lower Volga and North Caucasus regions. This variety is designed for the confectionery industry and is characterized by large seeds measuring from 1.5 to 2 cm, which ensures high-quality raw materials for processing. The average mass of 1000 seeds reaches 804 g, and the yield is about 32 centners per hectare, making «Victoria» a competitive option for agricultural production.

The vegetative period of the variety is approximately 117–125 days, which allows for harvest planning within a single season. The bushy plant form simplifies automated harvest collection, increasing efficiency and reducing labor costs. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew and bacterial rot, thanks to the use of genetic markers in breeding, which contributes to yield stability and loss reduction.

A feature of the variety is its high oil content — up to 50% of the mass of the dry product, which ensures a high oil yield during processing. The seeds have a dense texture and low sugar content, making them ideal for frying and baking. In addition, the variety is characterized by a low level of toxic compounds such as arachin, which enhances the safety and quality of the final product. All these properties make «Victoria» a promising variety for the development of domestic peanut production and meeting the needs of the confectionery industry.
