White Wavy Cap (Lactarius pubescens) is a mushroom of the genus Lactarius (Latin: Lactarius) in the family Russulaceae. The cap is 4-8 cm in diameter, initially convex, then flattened and sometimes funnel-shaped, with a curled edge and a depressed center. The cap skin is white, darker in the center, typically without distinct concentric zones, densely hairy, sometimes slimy. Gills are attached or slightly descending, numerous, narrow, white. The stem is 2-4 cm tall, 1.2-2 cm in diameter, cylindrical, tapering toward the base, smooth or slightly hairy, becoming hollow with age, the same color as the cap.
The flesh is firm, white, brittle, with a mild odor. The milky juice is abundant, white, acrid, and does not change color in air. As the mushroom ages, the cap becomes smoother and the entire mushroom turns yellow. It is easily distinguished from other white milk caps by its hairy cap.
Cultivating White Wavy Cap on a homestead plot: in a shaded area, on a 2.5-3 m² area, dig 30 cm deep, and fill with nutrient-rich soil.
First layer: (spread on the bottom) fallen leaves, grass, or wood bark (10 cm).
Second layer: forest compost or soil from under trees (10 cm). Then evenly sprinkle the dried mycelium, previously mixed with 1 liter of dry soil, across the entire area.
Third layer: plant debris, similar to the first layer, but 3 cm thick.
Fourth layer: garden soil (3-5 cm). After sowing, water using drip irrigation.
The first mushrooms will appear in 1.5-2 months, then every 1-1.5 weeks.
In indoor cultivation, use the same method, but plant in trays. The mycelium can live up to 5 years. Cultivation can be done at any time of the year.
