Taiski Emerald is a fruit-bearing and decorative vine, Actinidia arguta, that brings bright, juicy berries and lush greenery to the garden. The plant's tendrils can reach lengths of up to 4 m, easily attach to any support, and medium-sized leaves of rich green color create a dense crown, providing pleasant shade in gazebos and terraces.
Flowering occurs at the end of May: small white flowers with a subtle aroma pave the way to fruiting. The variety is female, so to obtain a harvest, male pollinator plants must be planted nearby; then by September, appetizing berries will ripen on the vine. The fruits are cylindrical, 3–4 g each, with a shiny skin and sour-sweet pulp. Their dark emerald color and strawberry notes make them especially attractive for fresh consumption.
Taiski Emerald is rich in vitamin C – its concentration is higher than in lemons, oranges, rose hips, and blackcurrants. Berries can be used not only as a dessert but also for baking, jams, and homemade wine. The plant prefers sunny spots with morning sun and light afternoon shade, loose moist soil without strong water stagnation. Regular watering (abundant spraying in the morning and evening) and feeding with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in different seasons ensure healthy growth and high yield.
In decorative use, Taiski Emerald harmonizes perfectly with arches, fences, shrubs (Schisandra, honeysuckle, blackberry) and flowering plants (clematis). Thanks to its flexibility and bright greenery, it becomes an excellent element of vertical greening of the site, creating dense shade and coolness on summer days.
