Description KHABAROVSK 86
Alopecurus 'KHABAROVSK 86' is a short-rooted, semi-upland plant of the Poaceae family, genus Alopecurus. Externally, it is characterized by simple lanceolate leaves that are sessile and smooth, as well as spike-like inflorescences with green flowers decorated with white and orange stripes. It forms weakly with loose turf; stems are stable to lodging, making the plant suitable for use as fodder mass.

Key features include high winter hardiness and good tolerance to groundwater proximity, while it reacts poorly to stagnant water. The plant prefers moderately moist meadows, especially in river floodplains, where it can form pure thickets. In the first year of development, growth is slow, but after the second year, the fodder mass increases in quality and volume, making 'KHABAROVSK 86' a valuable resource for pastures.

Alopecurus is distinguished by its resistance to shading and the ability to grow in various soil conditions, although it grows poorly on dry, poor soils. It tolerates grazing well, but may rot when lodging. Varieties 'VIK 15', 'Rais', and 'Khabarovsk 86' represent varieties of this species used in agriculture to improve fodder resources.
