Description Rodnik
Early maturing variety, obtained at the Moscow Fruit and Berry Experimental Station (now VSTISP) from crossbreeding No. 329-11 (seedling from self-pollination of the 'Purman' variety) and the 'Lada' variety. Authors: M.N. Simonova and I.V. Popova. Since 2001, included in the State Register of Selection Achievements approved for use in the Central Region.

Medium-height, upright, dense bush. Young shoots are green with a reddish tint, thick. Mature shoots are thick, gray, with slight anthocyanin coloring at the tip and no hairs. Thorns are single, sparse, of medium degree of thorniness. Thorns are matte, dark-colored, perpendicular to the shoots, medium length, up to 11 mm. Thorn thickness is medium; thorn distribution — 2-3 thorns per 50 cm of shoot. Buds are large, elongated, brown, deviated from the shoot. Terminal bud is single.

Leaf five-lobed, lobes blunt, central lobe exceeds lateral ones. Large, green, slightly shiny, leathery. Blade is horizontally positioned, concave along central veins. Leaf margin is wavy. An additional protrusion is present on the central lobe. Angle between central veins of lateral lobes is acute, lateral lobes are widely spaced. Basal lobes are underdeveloped. Leaf base is straight. Teeth are large and blunt. Petiole is short, thick, green. Petiole scar is round.

Flowers are large, sepals light green with reddish-purple streaks, not closed, moderately reflexed. Inflorescence is single- or two-flowered.

Berries are large (5.0–6.7 g), one-seeded, round-oval, yellow-green. Seeds are large. Flavor is tart-sweet, dessert-like, rated 4.5 points. Receptacle is oval, large, closed. Peduncle is long and straight. Chemical composition of berries: soluble dry matter — 11.0%, total sugars — 7.7%, titratable acidity — 2.7%, ascorbic acid — 23.0 mg/100 g.

Cold-hardy variety, resistant to winter temperature fluctuations, productive, average multi-year yield is 10.3 t/ha (7.5 kg/plant), highly self-fertile, resistant to powdery mildew and septoria, moderately resistant to anthracnose.

Advantages of the variety: good winter hardiness, stable yield and large berry size, dessert flavor, high rooting ability of shoots, early fruiting.

Disadvantages of the variety: berry drop after rainy weather.
