Description Miranda
The potato variety Miranda is an early-maturing table variety of German origin, intended for harvest within 65-70 days after emergence of sprouts. The first harvest of tubers can be taken as early as day 45, making this variety particularly attractive for those who value early maturing. Tubers have an oval shape, smooth yellow skin, and light-yellow flesh. The weight of one tuber ranges from 93 to 170 grams, and each plant forms 7 to 12 large tubers. Starch content is within 12.1-16.2%, ensuring its versatility in culinary use. Miranda is distinguished by high taste qualities and belongs to the culinary type CD, allowing its use for frying, baking, boiling, and making mashed potatoes. Thanks to its excellent taste and versatility, this variety is suitable for preparing both first and second courses, as well as for stewing. Yield of the variety under favorable conditions and good care reaches 113 to 322 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching up to 376 centners. Storage capacity of tubers is about 92%, allowing long-term storage even in home conditions, for example, on a balcony or in a garage. The Miranda variety exhibits good resistance to potato blight and golden cyst nematode, enhancing its reliability in cultivation. However, it is susceptible to foliage and moderately susceptible to tubers to late blight, requiring careful care and preventive measures. The originator of the variety is the company Solana GMBH & Co KG from Germany. Thanks to the combination of early maturing, high yield, excellent taste qualities, and resistance to diseases, the potato Miranda is an excellent choice for home cultivation and commercial production.
