Three-component contact-system herbicide for controlling annual broadleaf and some grass weeds in sugar beet crops
Active substances: fenmedifam, 91 g/l; desmedifam, 71 g/l; ethofumesate, 112 g/l
Manufacturer: Peters & Burg Ltd, Hungary
Formulation: concentrate emulsion
Packaging unit: 5 L canister
Mode of action
Fenmedifam, desmedifam — contact-acting substances. They penetrate leaf tissues, concentrate in chloroplasts, and block photosynthesis processes. Thus, sunny and warm weather enhances their efficacy on weeds.
Ethofumesate belongs to systemic active substances. It is absorbed by various plant parts, especially young weed stems and roots along with soil moisture. Therefore, the presence of available soil moisture enhances ethofumesate's efficacy on weeds.
Herbicide action symptoms
First visible symptoms of herbicide action (chlorosis, wilting) appear on days 3-6 after application. Final weed death occurs within 2-3 weeks.
Crop development stage
Since crop plants are most sensitive to the product during the cotyledon stage — the first pair of true leaves — application is not recommended during this period at rates exceeding 1 L/ha. Application at rates exceeding 1 L/ha is permitted only when crop plants have developed four true leaves.
Weed development stage
Maximum efficacy of the product is observed when weeds are in the cotyledon stage.
Weather conditions
Maximum efficacy of the product on weeds is observed at average daily air temperatures of +18… 25°C.
Minimum air temperature for application is +10°C. Elevated air temperatures (above +25°C) as well as intense sunlight reduce the product's efficacy and increase the risk of crop phytotoxicity.
Frost within 3 days prior to application or 7 days after application increases the risk of crop phytotoxicity.
Presence of water droplets on plant surfaces during application, as well as rain within 6 hours, reduce the product's efficacy on weeds.
Application of the product
The product is applied only by ground spraying after emergence of crop plants. Working solution rate: 200-250 L/ha.
Compatibility with other products
The product is compatible with most sugar beet protection agents. However, compatibility and phytotoxicity of tank-mixed components must be tested in each specific case. When applied in tank mixes with grass herbicides under elevated temperatures, partial crop inhibition may occur. Therefore, in hot weather, it is recommended to apply TRIUMPH and all grass herbicides separately with at least a 24-hour interval between applications.
Preparation of working solution
To prepare the working solution, fill the sprayer tank with water to 3/4 of its volume. Then, activate the mixing mode and add the required amount of product. Fill the sprayer tank with water while the mixing mode is active until full capacity. The mixing mode must remain active during application to maintain the working solution's homogeneity.
The working solution remains effective for 16 hours after preparation.
Precautions
— application is prohibited 75 days before harvest;
— application is not recommended on sugar beet crops under stress conditions (drought, heatwaves, abrupt weather changes, disease or pest infestation).
