— Effective action against annual and some perennial dicotyledonous weeds, suppressive effect on annual grasses;
— The possibility of application in a wide range of phases of crop development - from germination to 6-8 leaves;
— It is used both independently and in tank mixtures with Milagro 040 SC, EC, Banvel 4S 480 SL v.r.k.
Compatibility with other pesticides:
To expand the spectrum of action of Callisto 480 SC, it can be used in tank mixtures with other herbicides ( Milagro 040 SC, EC, Dual Gold 960 EC k.e.), applied at the same time. However, in each specific case, mixed preparations should be checked for compatibility. Before preparing a tank mixture, carefully read the information on the label of the components of the tank mixture and make sure that their application dates are consistent.
It is not recommended to use insecticides based on organophosphorus compounds and thiocarbamates 7 days before or after applying the herbicide Callisto 480 SC. Do not apply the product to corn crops whose seeds have been treated with insecticides based on organophosphorus compounds and thiocarbamates.
Possibility of varying crops in crop rotation: If necessary, replanting (drought, flooding, frost) of corn fields treated with the herbicide Callisto 480 SC can be sown immediately. In the fall of the same year, you can sow winter rye and wheat, ryegrass, as well as winter rapeseed if plowing has been carried out. In the spring of the following year after plowing, it is possible to sow sunflower, soybean, sorghum, canola, alfalfa. Sensitive crops such as sugar beets, table and fodder beets, peas, beans can be sown 18 months after applying Callisto 480 SC.
Period of protective action: 40-60 days depending on the rate of application, species composition and phase of development of weeds, as well as weather conditions after herbicide application.
Speed of impact: Depends on the stage of development and physiological state of weeds, as well as weather conditions at the time of treatment and shortly thereafter. Mesotrione has a pronounced systemic effect, penetrating into plants (70-80% within 24 hours) and causing the cessation of growth of susceptible weeds within 1-2 days after application. The first symptoms of damage are discoloration of photosynthetic tissues in growth points. Then, discoloration spreads throughout the plant, necrosis of tissues occurs. Complete death of weeds occurs within 1-2 weeks after treatment depending on the species of weeds and weather conditions.
Application technology: Cleanliness of tank, main pipelines and nozzles, as well as the serviceability of all sprayer are checked before the start of protective work. Then they determine the amount and uniformity of water supply through the nozzles and compare it with the calculated data on the consumption rate of working liquid per 1 ha. Spraying is carried out in the morning or evening hours in windless weather, without allowing drift of the preparation to neighboring crops.
Application of herbicide Callisto 480 SC is possible in a wide range of phases of crop development (from germination to 6 leaves). Maximum efficiency is achieved when spraying annual weeds at the 2-3 leaf stage, perennial weeds - at the rosette stage with a diameter of 5-8 cm.
To achieve maximum product effectiveness, it is necessary to ensure high-quality coverage of the surface of weed leaves with a working solution, as this ensures rapid movement of mesotrione to the growth points of weeds. For better wetting and increasing biological efficiency, ALWAYS add an adjuvant (surfactant) to the working solution.
Weeds should be in the active growth phase - this accelerates the translocation of the active substance inside the plant. Avoid applying the product under conditions where cultivated plants are under stress caused by adverse weather conditions (drought, frost, flooding, etc.). Limiting factors for choosing treatment dates are:
— development phase of weeds;
— degree of screening of soil and weeds by crop plants;
— weather conditions at the time of treatment.
Use the maximum application rate for high weed infestation and overgrown weeds, as well as under unfavorable weather conditions. Do not carry out spraying in heavy dew or rainy weather. Rainfall falling within 1 hour after spraying does not reduce herbicide effectiveness. Do not perform inter-row treatments 7 days before and after applying Callisto 480 SC.
Phytotoxicity:
When using the product in strict accordance with the recommendations developed by the company, there is no risk of phytotoxicity.
Possibility of resistance development:
Does not occur provided that the recommendations developed by the company are strictly observed.
Storage of the product: Store the product in a dry pesticide storehouse in tightly closed original packaging at temperatures from -5°C to +35°С.
Shelf life: 3 years from the date of manufacture.
New mechanism of action
The active ingredient of the herbicide Callisto 480 SC - mesotrione - belongs to a unique class of tricarbonyls, analogues of natural herbicides. Naturalists have long noticed that in the presence of some plants, others either do not grow at all or are severely depressed. These properties most contrastingly manifest themselves in the presence of the ornamental plant Callistemon citrinus, which received the name "bottle brush" for its original inflorescence shape. Compounds isolated from this plant served as prototypes for the synthesis of mesotrione. Mesotrione blocks the action of an important plant enzyme p-hydroxy-phenyl-pyruvate dehydrogenase. The new mechanism of action allows suppression of biotypes of weeds resistant to existing herbicides based on acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitors, triazines and 2,4-D. Mesotrione has a pronounced systemic effect, moving in the plant through xylem and phloem. The active substance quickly penetrates into the plant through leaves, roots and shoots, and causes growth arrest of susceptible weeds within 1-2 days after application. Complete death of weeds occurs within 1-2 weeks after treatment depending on the species of weed, weather conditions and development stage at time of treatment. Symptoms of exposure - discoloration accompanied by necrosis and death of plants.
